Originally built as the summer home of Governor Bates, Massachusetts’ governor at the turn of the 20th century, this beautifully updated home seamlessly blends historic character with modern amenities. With five bedrooms and space for up to 10 guests, this is the perfect destination for family gatherings, friend getaways, or a relaxing waterfront escape.

What does my rented vacation home provide?


Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.


  • The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.

  • Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.

  • The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.

  • Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.

  • Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.

Guests will also receive a “Welcome Kit” that contains:

Newly renovated in 2023, the eat-in kitchen is bright, sunny and fully applianced (including the washer and dryer). A secondary porch, accessible from the kitchen, is perfect for al fresco meals. A butler’s pantry connects the kitchen to the dining room.

The formal dining room seats up to 10.

Sun Room

The living room opens onto a pleasant enclosed sun room with views of the river and front lawn with plenty of comfortable seating.

Great Stay

We rented this property for our trip to Salem. It was a 15 minute ride to Salem. It was everything we expected. The travel guides that were in the home upon our arrival of Cape Ann and the towns there were also helpful. After looking through them we also decided to spend our second day there to explore Gloucester. Enjoyed going to Hammond Castle, magtober fest and Eastern Point Lighthouse. The views of the river were beautiful. We would stay again.

Another great week!

Our family of 10 had a great time swimming off the dock at high tide, paddle boarding to the mud flats at low tide, watching all the boats go by. Sad to leave but we’ll back next year!

Great waterfront home

We had an amazing experience at this home. The lawn, dock and outdoor spaces are incredible and the AC units worked really well to keep the indoor space cool during a warm summer weekend. The house very comfortably fit our large group. I would highly recommend this spot!

Lovely home, ideal setting

The house is a large, beautiful, classic New England home with wrap around porches, and beautiful views of the salt marsh and river. We were a family of 10 age range 73- 14months. We rented kayaks from North Shore Adventures for 5 days. The kayaks were delivered along with life vests promptly at 4pm and picked up the morning of departure. Our favorite beach was Good Harbor. Best family restaurant Lobster Pool and date night restaurant Talise. The dock is perfect for swimming (all ages) and low tide was fun for small children to play in the sand.

Lovely home

A few nitpicks that should not stop you from enjoying this gem - the wiring needs to be updated and the door knobs should be replaced to be more disability-friendly. Beautiful

We had an amazing time, and the house was perfect for family to stay in for our sons wedding on the North Shore. It was very well stocked, the AC units worked when needed but we also had terrific breezes off the water. Great space for gathering and relaxing and the most amazing sunsets. Ideal family gathering

The setting at Singing Pines was ideal for our family gathering. There were common areas to gather at, but also enough space to remove oneself from the group and relax. Sitting overlooking the river with an early morning coffee and watching the boats go by was the number 1 activity, followed closely by watching the beautiful sunsets. Great spot.

Wonderful setting

Beautiful location on the Annisquam

Our favorite things about this home is it's location and view of the Annisquam with a constant parade of boats going by, access to the water for kayaking and swimming, the change of tides presenting an ever changing view of the marsh, the wrap around porch with indoor, screened in and open air sections and the lawn and dock. Our family returned this year for the second time and enjoyed the house even more.

Fantastic waterfront views of the salt marsh and Annisquam river

We adored the location, the wrap around porches, the lawn, the dock, the kayaking, the VIEWS which changed every hour of the day like a moving painting. We would definitely stay again. Just a bit disappointed by the beds, pillows, couches, lack of lighting for reading, and stove/oven (silly toaster too!) Furnishings either pretty tired or if new, pretty uncomfy. But in the long run, we would choose it again. Very restorative vacation for us. Hardly ever left the premises.

Relaxing on the Annisquam

Amazing sunsets. Beautiful water views. Watching the boats pass by was very relaxing. House was very comfortable and large enough to accommodate friends and family. Kitchen and Upstairs bathroom could use a little updating. Wish we could have stayed longer!! Hope to be back next summer!

Awesome Weekend

Annisquam Singing Pines was perfect for our daughter’s wedding weekend! The lighting in various rooms was gorgeous for pictures! We had ample space for dressing, relaxing, and playing before the wedding. We all agreed that the lime green counter tops added to the charm of the house. Would definitely recommend or stay again!

Singing Pines

Lovely location atop a steep bluff to watch the boaters glide by, a dock to moor our raft, and calm low tide for morning swims. The house has old world charm and, while not updated, had plenty of floor space inside and outside on the three porches. We did ask for and received an A/C unit for the bottom floor after being surprised that it is not standard with the property; fans only downstairs. Made the short trip to Rockport for steamed lobsters which we ate on the back porch. The grass was long and bugs were out so bug spray is recommended. Overall, a great first north shore experience.

We were very pleased with our stay at singing pines. The place was very clean ..the beds were comfortable.. The rooms were big and spacious. Kitchen was well equpt...loved the enclosed sun porch.
